your questions answered

How would you describe your style?

Relaxed, creative, personal and professional.

I have never taken two sets of wedding images that look the same as I think that your personalities should be reflected in your photographs and your album should be a story book of your day with all the little emotions and details which make your day unique.

I am looking for relaxed, natural looking images but I would also like some particular shots of friends and family - is this possible?

Yes. A well designed album will usually contain a variety of images, ranging from candid shots, images conveying the little moments and details of your day, to group photographs.  Candid images, for example, of your guests arriving and the drinks reception give a really relaxed, natural look to your album. But is a good idea to spend some time (even if it is only 15 minutes) taking a few shots of your friends and family as well.

I will ask you to spend a little time thinking of a list of pictures you would like of family and friends so that this can be planned in advance.  You can also decide how you would like those shots to be taken, for example, formal groups, or in a more relaxed way.

Can I have a mixture of black and white and colour photographs?

Yes. As the photographs are taken digitally, any image can be turned to black and white or sepia.

Do you have any limit on the number of images you take and how many images can I expect to have?

I don't put any limit on the number of images I take, as I like to be able to shoot freely without any restriction.

In terms of numbers, this very much depends on the day you are having and what you have asked me to do.  A large wedding in July with good weather will probably result in more images than a smaller wedding in November and if I am taking pictures of you getting ready before the ceremony, then you will end up with more photographs than if I start just before the ceremony.

I am not sure about the timings and how long everything will take - help?!

Getting the timings right is really important to make your wedding day relaxing and it really helps to plan your day out carefully in advance. I will meet you beforehand at your venue/s to have a look around and discuss the opportunities for shots with you.  Your wedding photography should fit around the way you want to spend the day, but you do need to make sure you allow enough time for the images you want.

We will decide where to take shots in good and bad weather and sort out the timings out so you can have the day you want without worrying about timings on the day itself.

How long will you spend taking photographs on the day?

From the preparations before your ceremony of the bride getting ready (if you would like those shots) and groom and best man through until you sit down for your wedding breakfast. If you are having your speeches before the meal, I will photograph those.

If you would like photographs of your first dance, there is an additional fee.

Do I get to keep the proof booklet and DVD slideshow?

Yes - the proofs will help you to finalise your album design and you will really enjoy having a record of all your images to keep.

Do you have any references you can supply us with?

Yes - lots of them!  You can see a number of extracts from thank you cards on the comments page. I would also be happy to put you in touch with any of my couples.

I like the look of the complete weddings on the recent weddings page but I would really like to see some albums - how can I do this?

I would be very happy to meet up with you and show you some albums.  I think it is very important to be comfortable with your wedding photographer and also for your photographer to understand how you want your day to be so I am happy to take the time to meet you and discuss what you are looking for in more detail.

I offer appointments Monday to Thursday evenings between 5pm and 7pm so feel free to give me a ring on 01761 492559 to book a time to meet up.
